URBAN POP MUSIC RULING THE POP MUSIC WORLD
Without doubt the urban pop music is the music genre of the moment according to many voters. Tinie Tempah led the field in yesterday's Brits nominations with four nods, closely followed by Plan B — two London rappers who have leaped from the margins to dominate the charts in 2010.
Whereas urban music used to be ghettoised with its own awards ceremony, the Mobos, today those awards look like the place for the Brits to crib its answers.
The nominations come in the same week that rock has been revealed to be about as relevant to young people today as polka music, making up just three of last year's 100 best-selling singles in the UK.
