CHERYL NETS £6M DEAL
Cheryl Cole's impromptu trip to Los Angeles this week wasn't just to see friend Derek Hough but also apparently to finalise a £6million record deal.
The X Factor judge, 27, has reportedly landed the whopping deal with record company Universal who told the singer she could be a big star in the US.
Executives got in touch after Cole topped the UK single charts last weekend with new song, Promise This, and are hoping she'll be able to crack the notoriously hard American market, reports The Sun.
'Cheryl got a call from some very senior people at Universal saying they wanted to see her,' a source told the paper.
'They are the kind of people who when they say, "Jump", you ask, "How high?".'
In a bid to help her break the States, Universal will be releasing her new album Messy Little Raindrops in the States next year along with at least two other LPs.
Yesterday, Cole was spotted hiding in a car driven by dancer Hough, 25.
The pair were believed to be house-hunting but it now looks as if Hough was offering Cole support as she met with label bigwigs.
"[Cheryl] jumped on a plane and went to LA for 36 hours. Derek was there to ferry her to and fro and give her support as these big execs can be quite scary,' the source added.
Chezza's X Factor boss Simon Cowell and mate Will.i.am, who is also signed to Univeral, helped put in a good word.
Cole is expected to sign on the dotted line soon when details of the contract have been sorted out.
