Lily Allen out for her first date
She has been settled at her home and polished off in the blissfulness of motherhood since her baby Ethel Mary born in November. But Lily Allen went out on a date with Sam Cooper, her husband for the very first time since they became parents.
Thirty four year old Sam and twenty six year old Lily spent a rare night and got a night off from the nappy duty. They came from their county home and journeyed to the city and took elegant dinner.
ALLEN FUMING AT AWARDS
Adele's fans were left fuming when her BRIT Awards acceptance speech was cut off on Tuesday night.
Fans of the British singer Adele were left enraged when her acceptance speech in BRIT Awards was cut off. This gesture of disrespect was even criticized by several celebrities.
Previously it was Olly Murs who showed his disappointment on Adele’s speech being cut.
Lily Allen's Daughter
The name of Lily Allen’s newborn child has finally been revealed. Her daughter has reportedly been named Ethel Mary.
The recording artist had kept name of her daughter a secret since November 2011 when the child was born. However, sources suggest that it was finally disclosed by Alison Owen, Allen’s mother, when she mentioned the baby by name on Facebook.
POP TOO SEXY?
Many questions have been raised regarding the sexuality of pop music. Broadcasters are being asked to toughen up their standards on raunchiness, after one 80s musician criticised today's pop music as being on a "slow but unmistakable descent into pornography".
Mike Stock of the pop factory Stock, Aitken and Waterman, and the London-based music producer OD Hunte discuss the "preponderance of sexual imagery" in today's pop music.
SHAKIRA CONSIDERS ARABIC ALBUM
Pop star Shakira is considering making an album in the Arabic language. She confessed to a crowd of mostly Moroccan journalists at the 10th-annual Mawazine festival of world music that right now she only knows a few words of Arabic, namely “ateeni boosa” or give me a kiss, but she is totally open to the experience of learning the language.
BRITNEY'S NEW ALBUM RELEASED
Pop icon Britney Spears has just released her new album amidst huge expectations. With her seventh studio album, which came out last weekend, she adds another vacuous album to her forte. Femme Fatale, a kitschy mash of looped samples and electronic vocals, barely holds together the 12 tracks (16 in the deluxe edition), and hardly contains much musical substance. But it’s also safe to assume that America’s sweetheart will get away with this and might even be commended for it. In fact, who knows, Femme Fatale might end up being called the best pop album of the summer.
HOPKINS TO PLAY CLASSICAL MUSIC
Anthony Hopkins is all set to play classical music for two concerts in the United Kingdom. Anthony Hopkins will present his original classical music, including a new piece composed for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, at two UK concerts.
Hopkins is "immensely happy" to be working with the orchestra for his music's British premiere, he told BBC News. "There are themes and passages in these pieces that have been several decades in the making and to bring them all vividly to life with one of the great symphony orchestras of the world is absolutely thrilling."
BARRY DEAD
Pop icon composer Barry is dead. He passed away on Sunday in New York, reportedly from a heart attack.
Barry was best known for his work on the James Bond films — he scored 11 films including Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice — and his atmospheric scores are credited with giving 007 much of his smooth persona.
"I think James Bond would have been far less cool without John Barry holding his hand," said David Arnold, his successor as the 007 score composer, who described Barry's death as a "profound loss".
URBAN POP MUSIC RULING THE POP MUSIC WORLD
Without doubt the urban pop music is the music genre of the moment according to many voters. Tinie Tempah led the field in yesterday's Brits nominations with four nods, closely followed by Plan B — two London rappers who have leaped from the margins to dominate the charts in 2010.
Whereas urban music used to be ghettoised with its own awards ceremony, the Mobos, today those awards look like the place for the Brits to crib its answers.
BOYS TOPPLE LADIES
New Zealand boys toppled the ladies from the throne of being the pop king. Under the cloud of a global recession and laments of the demise of the music industry as we know it, Kiwi artists produced a 2010 vintage that was more than handsome.
A quick glance at some numbers shows that local artists have stood their ground in matters of sale figures and radio play.
